1. Before starting at the export of the stems, first export your own mix (or master) and include it in the package. We’re using this as a reference.

2. Create groups, make sure to separate at least the following stems:

  • Drums (for electronic music, just the kick)

  • Percussion

  • Basslines

  • Solo instruments

  • Background instruments

  • Vocals

  • Sound Effects

3. Label all the stems so it makes sense.

4. Make sure that the stems on all the channels are safe (below -1dBFS, TP).

5. Export all the stems. Make sure to include automation in the export and turn off normalisation.

6. A correct stem export has to sound like your mix when playing back all the stems with all the faders at 0dB

7. ZIP or RAR all the files per song and upload it to the (private) dropbox link provided in the e-mail contact. WeTransfer and Google Drive are also possible.

We’ll make sure to check the files when they arrive and let you know if everything is okay. It could happen that, while processing, we discover something for which we need a different file. We’ll always contact you to discuss this.

FAQ

  • No, it’s not mandatory, however, your mix can give us a good feeling for the vibe you’re looking for and is also used for error checking of the channels.
